Now this is a car for Buick to be proud of! After successfully rebadging the Opel Insignia and turning it into Buick Regal, GM genius marketers now present the performance oriented Regal GS. And yes it’s an Insignia OPC with a Buick badge on it. We just wonder why they call it a concept?! The bloody car has been on the market for a while now, so…

One other funny thing about this car is that it’ll come with a 2.o liter Ecotec engine instead of the OPC’s turbocharged V6! at 225 hp it is about 100 hp weaker than the car it’s based on. GM’s wisdom needs some serious refining!

Apart from the engine everything else about it is the same as the OPC Insignia. It has a bolder sportier design than regular versions and is fitted with beefed up suspension, brakes and some huge 20-inch wheels (Concept show car). As mentioned above its 2.o liter turbo engine is rated at 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 295 lb.-ft. of torque (400 Nm) and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and AWD system.

Other features of this rather cool car include an electronic, limited-slip rear differential, Interactive Drive Control System (IDCS) chassis technology, High Performance Strut (HiPerStrut) suspension, sharper steering and high-performance Brembo brake system with 14 x 1.2-inch (355 x 32 mm) cross-drilled rotors; four-piston, high-strength aluminum calipers, and high-performance pads.

John Cafaro, Buick design director, pretending that no one knows nothing about the Opel, comments on it: “The idea behind the Regal GS was taking the production model in a more aggressive direction to appeal to performance enthusiasts.” And Craig Bierley, product marketing director for Buick, apparently has no idea: ” We designed the Regal GS to explore the appeal of a high-performance variant of the Regal!”.
