McLaren spent the whole last year developing and fine-tuning its MP4-12C GT3 race car, so they can have one of the finest competitors on the 2012 grid. This year 25 McLaren MP4-12C GTs will race across Europe and in FIA GT1 World Championship. Also, a MP4 road car has been selected as safety car for FIA GT1 World Championship race at Nogaro on 8-9 April.

The competitive race season begins for new McLaren GT customer teams in Germany on 31 March, with the opening rounds of the VLN and ADAC GT Masters championships at the Nürburgring Nordschliefe and Oschersleben respectively. Gemballa Racing and Doerr Motorsport field the car in the VLN series, while Molitor Racing and another Gemballa Racing team take part in ADAC GT.

As for other series, Hexis Racing will line up on the grid of the FIA GT1 World Championship. Series Champions Apex Motorsport will enter a new 12C GT3 in selected rounds of this year’s British GT championship, while the Lapidus Racing team will contest the International GT Open series, and also compete in forthcoming 24-hour races at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.
