Finally, Ford is letting the beast out the cage! The motoring press is getting its first taste of the new 662-horsepower Shelby GT500 Mustang, and our favourite celeb Jay Leno is the first to get behind the wheel of this superb vehicle. Ford actually delivered both the GT500 and the latest Boss 302 to Jay’s Garage and he reviews both for us, but come on , in the presence of the new Shelby, the Boss feels like a hatchback!
In this video Jay is joined by SVT engineer Jamal Hameedi to talk us through the finest Mustang ever built.
The awesome new GT500 is powered by a supercharged V8 engine that churns out a colossal 662-hp and yet amazingly, it’s gas-guzzler tax exempt. To harness the power Ford has fitted the car with the every electronic system known to man, including a very sophisticated launch control system. The 2013 Shelby GT500 is by anyone’s standards a full-on super car. We wish it looked like one too.
Carroll Shelby went out with a bang, creating this GT500.

I dont think the car who, destroyed the 12′ Shelby GT 500 on the track, and the one who inspired the GT500′s suspension upgrades for 13′, should be called a “hatchback”.
