Dacia announced official pricing of its Duster SUV for the British market, just to reveal it is almost ridiculously cheap. The entry-level 4×2 Access version is priced at £8,995, which is super-mini kind of money. No other car for that kind of money offers this kind of space. Sure, the Duster does not come with an awful lot of equipments, but it’s not what you call spartan either.

The base model benefits from basic amenities such as electric front windows, four airbags, height adjustable steering wheel and ISOFIX points on the outer rear seats, as well as ABS and Emergency Brake Assist, plus remote central locking. It doesn’t get air conditioning though, which is a shame for a car made in year 2012.

The base Duster is powered by a 105hp 1.6-litre petrol engine, and comes in either 4×2 or 4×4 guise. The 4×2 is the 8 grand car, while the 4×4 costs £10,995.

The next trim level is called the Ambiance, and costs between £11,495 and £13,495. This one comes with a 4x20W radio/CD with AUX, Bluetooth, USB connectivity and steering-column mounted fingertip controls, plus body coloured bumpers, 60/40 split folding rear seats, front fog lights and height adjustable driver’s seat.

The top of the range Duster is the Lauréate, priced from £12,995 to £14,995. In terms of features, this version adds 16” alloy wheels, air conditioning, electric rear windows, leather steering wheel and trip computer to what the previous trims offer, while on the styling front it gets satin chrome for the roof bars, scuff plates, side sills and door handles, plus body coloured, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors.

Regardless of the equipments, Dacia Duster offers a 475-litre space (408 litres in 4×4 with spare wheel) expandable to 1,636 litres with the rear seats folded. So if it’s space you want and not much else, get the 8 grand base model and enjoy.
