Official pricing of the new Chevrolet Sonic RS have been revealed y GM, and it starts at $20,995 for the six-speed manual and $22,280 for the automatic. Both versions are powered by an Ecotec 1.4L turbo engine with 138 horsepower (103 kW) and 148 lb.-ft. (200 Nm) of torque, and feature unique styling and interior details over the standard Sonic.

On the outside, Sonic RS comes with RS-spec front grille, rear spoiler and fascia, rocker moldings, new tailpipes, 17-inch five-spoke wheel, lowered ride height courtesy of a sport suspension system, a sunroof, and a couple of RS badges.

Inside the cabin meanwhile, the RS treatment gets you leather-appointed front bucket seats with sueded microfiber inserts and red RS accents, sport three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel with contrasting stitching and racing-inspired flat-bottom design, leather-trimmed shift knob, aluminum sport pedals, RS instrument panel cluster graphics and standard Chevrolet MyLink.

So you do get a lot of kit for your money. But still, 22 grand sounds like a lot to ask for a not so good looking American hatchback that is actually Korean at heart. These days you can buy a sports car with that kind of money!
