Hyundai is updating the Genesis Sedan range for 2013 by removing the standard 5.0-liter and 4.6 liter V8s from the options list, and instead giving you an eight-inch touchscreen display with navigation and a 64GB SSD hard drive. You do still get a 5.0-liter direct-injected Tau V8, but it’s now exclusive to 5.0 R-Spec model. Regular models can only be had with the 3.8-liter V6 available in three equipment configurations.

They’ve actually kinda made it easy choosing the right Genesis. With the normal V8s gone, you go straight for the R-Spec model. It is the most powerful V8 Hyundai has ever made with 429 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 376 lb. ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm, and fuel economy ratings of 16 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

The V6 is not a slouch either, with 333 horsepower and 291 lb. ft. of torque, and highway fuel economy of 29 mpg. Both models are equipped with an in-house eight-speed automatic transmission.

As for the new navigation and Blue Link system, it’s a very feature-rich system with items like voice-text messaging, POI web search download, turn-by-turn navigation, smartphone remote features and monthly vehicle reporting. Blue Link can be easily accessed from the buttons on the rearview mirror, over the internet, or via a smartphone. Blue Link is offered in three packages: Assurance, Essentials and Guidance:
