This year AMG is celebrating its 45th anniversary, and as we know they are celebrating the bugger with a special car, the A45 AMG. On this occasion the Affalterbach-based company recently invited a group of ‘tier 1’ journalists to its headquarters for a visit. This is Chris Harris’ account of what’s going on inside the skunkworks at AMG.
Chris describes AMG’s engine facility as a baddies’ lab in a Bond movie, which makes sense, given what they make there. Each of those engines is capable of destroying the world if not restrained.
The best part of the tour, however, is AMG’s offer to the journo to drive one of their older cars. Chris goes for the most special: the Hammerwagen. Like the man says, when there’s a Hammer in the house, nothing else matters!
