A few days ago we told you about the first production units of the new COPO Camaro being delivered to customers. Well, it didn’t take long for them to hit the drag strip. Here’s a video of the first COPO running the quarter mile at Empire Dragway, and setting an incredible time of 8.88 seconds. This COPO is powered by the 5.3 liter supercharged V8 engine.

The turnkey dragster proved its worth by putting its money where its mouth is. But it’s just the beginning. There will be more modded versions going against Mopar Challengers and Mustang Cobra Jets. This particular COPO Camaro is the third one ever made. The first was a prototype and the second is apparently going to a museum.
