Toyota RAV4 2011 at Toyota RAV4 and Lexus HS 250h Recalled

Toyota announced a massive recall for  760,000 Toyota RAV4 – built between 2006 to 2011 – and 18,000  Lexus HS 250h – modelyear 2010 – due to an issue with the rear suspension arm. Long story short, the faulty rear arm might get weaker and weaker over time, until it let go someday and separate. It this happens the rear suspension will fail and the car’s handling will be dangerously ruined.

To be more specific about the problem, if the nuts on the rear suspension arm are not tightened following the proper procedure and torque specification during a rear wheel alignment service, excessive play may occur at the threaded portion of the arm, followed by rust formation.  If this were to occur, the threaded portion of the rear suspension arm may wear and cause the arm to separate.

Now, Toyota doe snot have a remedy yet, but once they do they will be notifying owners with mail to visit their local dealer and have the issue fixed free of charge.
