McLaren releases brand-new pictures of their extraordinary new car, the P1 concept, a few days ahead of its public unveiling at the Paris Motor Show. The P1 concept is set for production next year, filling up the hyper car spot in McLaren range, a spot that has been empty for years since McLaren F1 was gone. By the looks of things, the P1 is a worthy successor.

Now, the first thing you notice in this new set of images is the car’s active rear wing. It appears to be a similar system to Bugatti Veyron’s wing. It’s folded away for most of the time, and in high speed mode, and only extends itself when downforce is needed. When raised, that wing gives the P1 an even more cartoonish character. That’s alright, it is a super car after all.

Official technical specs are yet to be released, but the word is McLaren P1 features a hybrid powertrain capable of developing something like 960 horsepower. It’ll give it a 0 to 60 time of 2.8 seconds, and a top speed of 240 mph. McLaren is more focused on this car’s handling though, saying that it’s going to be the best driver’s car ever.

Well, it’s going to have a million pound price tag, so it better be!
