Former rally world champion and current Porsche ace test driver Walter Rohrl rarely gives interviews. But since it’s Evo’s Harry Metcalfe, he agrees to share his views on the new Porsche 918. Before they started chatting about the features of the new Porsche supercar, Harry and Walter had been out on the Nurburgring, setting some relaxed but incredibly fast lap times.

The 918 is apparently rated at 795 horsepower now, as Porsche’s been tweaking the RS Spyder-derived V8 petrol engine. As Walter points out there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the car, but even so, he managed to record a 7,40 lap time round the ‘Ring and he wasn’t even wearing a helmet, just driving around normally.
