The idea of a restomoded 1960s Camaro is hugely appealing becuz you get the looks of the old car, which is what you really want, without any of the drawbacks thanks to the modern engine, electronics, suspension and brakes. This is pretty much what Nelson Racing Engines has done to this cool Camaro here, but their idea of restomod is a bit different than others.

You see, if we had built this car, we’d put a 2012 Camaro ZL1 engine in it and enjoy the performance of all its 580 horses. the guys from NRE though are not satisfied by that. What they’ve done is drop a custom 572 cubic big block V8 in the hood.

The engine’s got two turbochargers, dual-row dual pass radiators with electric fans, two injectors per cylinder, NRE’s custom exhaust and intake systems, the hole nine yard. No wonder then it makes – on racing gas – 2,000 horsepower.

To cope with that mind-blowing power they have fitted the car with a unique six-speed gearbox with twin 10.5-inch dual disc clutch, heavy duty axles, HRE wheels and drag radial tires.

Not sure if this thing is street legal, but it looks quite awesome in black.
