It hasn’t been long since Jaguar F-Type made its global debut at the Paris Motor Show, but already the British car maker has received 2,000 pre-orders for this gorgeous roadster. So as expected the F-Type is an instant hit even before it actually hits the market.

The first deliveries of the F-Type are planned for the Spring of 2013, and it has a base price of £58,500 – rising to £79,950 for the V8 model. All that makes that 2,000 orders sound more impressive.

Nobody has driven the car yet, but when people look at the proportions of the car, and listen to its engine note, they know it is going to something truly incredible. That is the magic o f Jaguar.

This great start will put the F-Type on track to reach its goal of selling 10,000 units a year. Later on, there will also be a F-Type Coupe which can boost the sales even further.

Speaking to What Car? Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s global brand director, said: ‘We’re a long way from the peak of around 140,000 sales we saw back in 2007 [across the industry], but we are expecting an uplift,’ he said. ‘This will be driven in part by increasing confidence in the economy, but also stimulating new cars such as the Mercedes SL and Porsche 911, and of course the Jaguar F-type. ‘Come this time next year, we’ll get our fair share of the segment. We expect to sell around 10,000 cars a year.’
