Three Porsche 918 Spyders have been spotted recently by car paparazzi entering a hotel in Spain. Usually when car makers send a group of supercars out for test, they roll in a convoy with full protection. But Porsche doesn’t mind people seeing the Spyder going about its testing business. Everybody already knows what the car looks like, so what the hell!

The engineers are hard at work preparing the 918 for its market launch next year. This Porsche started a whole new era for hyper cars when it was introduced with a revolutionary hybrid powertrain that makes more power than most conventional systems, while returning astonishingly good fuel economy. It was this car that forced Ferrari and McLaren to think hybrid as well. It basically changed the definition of supercar.

Time will tell whether we should thank Porsche for it, or hate it because of what it’s done to this rare breed of cars.
