When the top brass approve of what the designers are proposing, the team will have to create a clay model of the car so it can be studied in greater details. That is of course for a brand-new model. The new Mercedes SLS Black Series only gets a body kit, but AMG was so determined to do a good job that they had the designers create another clay model with the Black Series changes applied.

This cool time-lapse video shows you how they go about creating these models, and then either paint it or wrap it in foil, so it looks just like the real thing. Compared to the standard SLS, the Black Series version features a new front bumper with larger air intakes and a spoiler lip, larger side skirts and side vents, buffed up fenders, a new rear bumper with racing diffuser and extra air vents, and a fixed rear wing.
