Audi took the wraps off its new DTM racer based on the RS5 Coupe. The car carries its ‘RS’ name to the race track to make a connection between the competition car and the road-going model, which in fairness is like 80 percent as capable as the race car.

In 2013 Audi Motorsport will run 8 RS5s on the grid, fielded by Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg. They will compete in all 10 events of the 2013 calendar, 6 of which in Germany, and the other four in Austria, Great Britain, Netherlands and Russia.

The Audi RS 5 DTM appears in action publicly for the first time at the DTM test between April 26 and 29 at Barcelona (Spain) and from 9 to 12 April at Hockenheim.

The driver lineup for the new RS5 DTM comprises of the following:

Newcomer Jamie Green (Great Britain) is the new team-mate of two-time DTM Champion Mattias Ekström (Sweden) at Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline. DTM Champion Timo Scheider (Germany) and Adrien Tambay (France) compete for Audi Sport Team Abt, Miguel Molina (Spain) and Mike Rockenfeller (Germany) for Audi Sport Team Phoenix, Filipe Albuquerque (Portugal) and Edoardo Mortara (Italy/France) for Audi Sport Team Rosberg.
