Car makers are among the biggest fans of augmented reality technology because it allows them to create interactive and highly engaging commercials and attract more fans. Audi is the latest to utilize this technology. They’ve teamed up with Blippar app and created an interactive video for the new R8 V10 plus.
What you need to do is install Blippar and then when you point your phone at print and poster advertisements of the car you will be able to see the engine in action and hear it roar. Sounds a bit silly to be honest, because with a few clicks you can find videos of the car – with plenty of engine noise – on YouTube. Why would you want to go through the app to get the same thing, we don’t know.
“The new Audi R8 V10 plus pushes boundaries in terms of performance and innovation. The use of Blippar technology allows people to interact immediately with the car, and get under its bonnet in a way they simply would not be able to do with a 2D advertisement alone. The new video content gives car enthusiasts the opportunity to hear the R8 V10 plus being taken to the red line,” explains Kristian Dean, National Communications Manager for Audi UK.
