Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing Wrecked During Test Drive

300 SL crash 545x342 at Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing Wrecked During Test Drive

This must be one of the most gruesome automotive pictures of the year! An ultra rare and ultra expensive Mercedes Ben 300 SL Gullwing was wrecked earlier this week in Germany when a mechanic took it out for a test drive.

The guys at Mechatronics restoration center was working on this car to bring it back to tiptop shape. But it looks like they have to start all over again, only after they came up with €650,000 – over $830,000 – which is what it costs to repair this SL. Not to worry though, as insurance is reportedly going to pay for it, but it’s definitely going to need more then a mercedes benz sprinter repair.

The 26-year old mechanic who was in charge of the car and his 19-year-old apprentice went on the test drive to see how the restoration is coming along, but they apparently pushed the car a bit too far, lost control, and pretty much destroyed it.

A perfect example of the SL Gullwing can cost up to 4 million Euros these days.
