Skoda has been too hung up on the new Octavia recently. But it seems they finally let that go and did a bit of work on the Superb. They gave the car a mild facelift, and are now taking it to the Shanghai Auto Show where it will be unveiled as the new moldeyear Superb.

Visually, you can count on new grille, car logo, head and fog lights, bumpers, front wings and bonnet, while the availability of bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights is a welcome addition. Around at the back both sedan and estate get revised bottoms, and the taillights rock new graphics. There’s also two additional metallic finishes: Meteor Grey and Moon White.

As for the interior, the only way you can enjoy it is to go for the top of the line Laurin & Klement model which can be had with brown and beige ivory color combo and some extra goodies. You do get a ton of space though. Both the Hatch with 595 litres and the Estate 633 litres are among the best in their class. What’s more,  they both come with foldable seats which increase those volumes to to 1,700 and 1,865 litres respectively.

Engine-wise, the new entry-level 1.4 TSI 125PS petrol engine with start stop and regerative brakes is an interesting choice for eco-minded customers. You can also go for the 2.0 TDI 140PS diesel with a manual gearbox and 4×4, or a 170hp version of this unit with 4×4 and DSG transmission.
