It seems that everything Jerry Seinfeld touches turns into gold! The comedian make a show once every decade, but he kills every time. His recent effort called “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” a web series about, well, comedians in cars getting coffee, had a successful first season. And now it’s gearing up to return this summer, this time with a major sponsor behind it.

Seinfeld is a Porsche man. But it seems that Acura has managed to convert him. They first started working together in Acura’s 2012 Super Bowl ad, and now the Japanese-American car maker is sponsoring Jerry’s web show. They have made a commitment for 24 new episodes to be released in 2013 and 2014. As the only sponsor of the program, Acura will integrate short, contextually relevant ads at the beginning and end of each episode.

This seems to be part of an elaborate plan Acura is putting in place for the launch of the new NSX super car. That car is significant enough to require a massive promotional campaign, and Jerry Seinfeld, apparently, is going to play a major role in it.

Acura says they see a bit of themselves in Jerry’s new show. It breaks away from the established, traditional form of making a funny chat show. No one else has come up with such a thing before. That’s what Acura think they have in common with the Comedian. They share the same bravery in “to defy convention”.

Acura’s current range certainly isn’t a good showcase of that attitude. But maybe with the arrival of the NSX over the next two years things take a sharp turn. In any case, we’re chuffed that Seinfeld is back with new material. This guy rarely disappointing.

“We at ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ are so glad a company we already admire has stepped forward to support us,” said Jerry Seinfeld. “Not everyone understood what we were doing. But like Moe Green who invented Las Vegas, Acura is a company of vision and guts. We could not be more thrilled to have them as our sponsor. Because of them, we advance!”
