It really is a tall order turning a car as tough and military-looking as the Land Rover Defender into something luxurious and soft enough for urban use. But if you pull it off, you end up with something achingly cool and very special. That is what Kahn Design has done to the Defender 2.2 TDCI XS 110 7-seater SUV.

They call it the Chelsea Defender, which sounds a bit sissy, but the car is pretty amazing. Finished in black, with tinted windows and black wheels, and equipped with a unique Kahn styling kit, this Defender looks mean and aggressive. And it still has all its off-road prowess. It is still one tough son of a gun, in spite of the fancy suit it’s wearing.

The styling kit Kahn has put together for this car include items such as front grille with embossed Kahn branding and mesh, front bumper including bumper lighting, xenon crosshair headlights, bonnet vents with mesh, brake calipers finished in liquid red, front bumper sump guard, hardwearing mud flaps, exhaust shields, Kahn prototype tailgate logo and wing badges.

The wheels are 18-inch 1983 Defender design, finished in sating black, and wrapped in 265×65 tires.

Kahn also has a very thorough interior package for the Defneder, consisting of front Sports GTB seats in quilted & perforated leather, middle row seats in quilted & perforated leather, centre glovebox in black leather & grey alcantara with red & silver stitching, centre dashboard surround in piano black, Kahn single spoke leather steering wheel, centre dashboard in black leather & grey alcantara with red & silver stitch, rear folding seats in quilted & perforated leather, rev counter facia in red, dashboard & instrument binnacle in alcantara, hard wearing front & rear cabin floor mats, Kahn fire extinguisher, churchill time clock facia insert in red and vented foot pedals in machined aluminium.
