Even though the typical customers of a rugged pickup truck like Volkswagen Amarok are not very style savvy, th German company felt the need to offer a special edition version of the car with enhanced visual features and extra equipment. Limited to 300 units, this model is UK-only.

VW says this Amarok SE offers up to £3,400 worth of additional equipment, which given the car’s starting price of £22,495, results in a saving of £2,000 overall. So what do you get exactly with this model?

Well, it begins with little stuff like body-coloured bumpers and wheel arches, and continues with 18-inch designer wheels, a black side step, black styling bars across the load area, rear privacy glass and special edition decals.

The Amarok has become more functional as well, as it’s been fitted as standard with front and rear parking sensors, a protective coating for the load area, interior floor mats, Bluetooth connectivity and satellite navigation with a five-inch colour touchscreen. That is a pretty decent kit by any standard.

Nothing has changed in terms of performance, as the special edition Amarok gets the standard 2.0-litre BiTDI engine with 180 PS and 420 Nm of torque, which gives it a towing capability of 3,200 kg.
