With the Camatte57s Concept, a sporty family-orientated toy car to be unveiled at the next Tokyo Toy Fair, Toyota is taking the art of toy making to a whole new level. The Camatte57s is basically the Caterham of the toy cars. You buy it as a kit and then build it together with your children.

If you want to raise your kid to be a petrolhead, this is what you need. Toyota says the Camatte57s is designed to convey “the fun of driving, car customization and car enthusiasm,” and to bring parents and children closer, as they engage in a fun activity that is building this car.

The 57S is a followup to Toyota’s 2012 Camette, only it’s been updated to be easier for the children to assemble, and it offers a greater range of customization possibilities. The vehicle body exterior consists of 57 detachable small lightweight panels to allow easy and extensive color and design customization.

Put together, the Camatte is a sports roadster with a minimalistic interior, featuring one front seat and two rear seats. It is powered by an electric motor, which allows the kids to enjoy driving while an adult seated in the rear-right seat assists steering and braking to help develop the child’s driving skills. This toy car will remain a one-off concept for the time being.
