Now that the new Mazda3 Hatchback is revealed and the world is basking in its KODO-fueled magnificence, it is time to start speculating about the sedan version. The sedan is less popular than the hatchback for obvious reasons, but still, an interesting proposition. This picture you see here is said to be the first shot of the new Mazda3 Sedan leaked onto the web.

The rear-end is all you need to see about the sedan version, because the rest of it will be identical to the hatchback. You get a decent-sized boot with the sedan, slightly different taillights, and a revised bumper – if the current Mazda3 Sedan is any indication.

In terms of features and engines, again, both cars will be similar, boasting a number of SKYACTIV technologies for powertrains, chassis, suspension, and safety equipment. The new Mazda3 benefits from a new construction that is lighter, but more rigid than the previous car. That not only makes it more efficient and even more agile, it is also an important safety factor.

There will be a wide range of petrol engines and one diesel available for the car at launch, with a high performance MPS (Speed3) version coming in a year or so. The hot version will only be available in Hatchback form.
