Andretti Autosport is a well-known name in the world of motorsport for their significant accomplishments in IZOD IndyCar Series, and the fame of their leader, racing legend Michael Andretti. Now they are venturing into a new field of racing – the newly-formed Formula E championship which will kick off next year with ten teams.

With four IZOD IndyCar Series championships (2004, 2005, 2007 and 2012), two Firestone Indy Lights titles (2008 and 2009), one USF2000 championship (2010) and has won the world-famous Indianapolis 500 twice (2005 and 2007) under its belt, Andretti Autosport’s involvement in Formula E is going to be a great achievement for the series, as it will attract other prominent motorsport firms to give it a try.

If Michael Andretti thinks the new championship is worth investing time and money on, they must onto something. Andretti comes from a family of racers and knows a thing or two about the business. He has a wealth of experience with more than 20 years competing in CART and Formula One with a remarkable 42 victories in CART, a runner-up on five occasions and second on the list of the most IndyCar laps led, just behind his father Mario.

Andretti Autosport will start its Formula E with the new Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E car. All teams will be using Michelin tires. UK-based Drayson Racing and China Racing are the other teams who have alreadysigned up for the series.
