Volkswagen announced the launch of a new limited edition Jetta that is going to make accountants and geography teachers, who are the typical buyers of this car, very happy. The reason? It comes with £2,900-worth of extra equipment for a premium of just £160.
The Jetta LE comes only with one engine, and it is the extremely frugal 1.6-litre 105 PS TDI engine with BlueMotion Technology. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, it returns 67.3 mpg on the combined cycle and emits just 105 g/km of CO2. That means free first-year VED, and just £20 per annum thereafter. Come on!
Where the Jetta LE really excels though is in terms of features and equipment. The standard kit is the same as the SE model, including a leather-trimmed handbrake, gear knob and multifunction steering wheel, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, USB and iPod audio connections and cruise control. On top of that you get RNS 315 touchscreen satellite navigation system, front fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, rear tinted glass, 16-inch ‘Perth’ alloys and a Convenience Pack consisting of an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, electrically foldable door mirrors with puddle lights, and automatic headlights and windscreen wipers.
Priced at £20,750, the Limited Edition Volkswagen Jetta can be had Deep Black Pearl, or Reflex Silver or Platinum Grey Metallic.
