Suzuki Concepts for 2013 Tokyo Motor Show
Suzuki announced a lineup of concept cars to be unveiled at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, all of them with excessive Japanese flavor. That is fair enough. What’s not is the names they have chosen for these cars; names like Crosshiker and Hustler.
Let’s begin with the Crosshiker, the juicy red one pictured above, which is a compact crossover with lightweight and fuel-efficient technologies. It only has a 1-litre 3-cylinder engine, but then it weighs only 810 kg, which is a record for a crossover. This is as eco-friendly as crossovers are ever going to get.
If you want something more serious, then Suzuki X-Lander is the one you need to check out. They say it is a real, full-blooded 4×4 vehicle, which is a bit of a leap, seeing as the car is based on the pathetic Jimny. The X-Lander is equipped with a 1.3L engine and a newly developed automatically controlled manual transmission, and utilizes lightweight materials. The open-top body makes it rather interesting.
Then we have the Hustler and Hustler Coupe. This 50 Cent-wannabe is designed to be roomy, comfortable, and offers useful features for people who like outdoors and stuff like that. The thing looks decidedly Japanese.
The most sensible of Suzuki Concepts for 2013 Tokyo Motor Show is the iV-4 which previews a production model to be launched in Europe in 2015. The car draws inspirations from Jimny, Grand Vitara, and other compact SUVs and is equipped with Suzuki’s next-generation 4WD system ALLGRIP.
