Hyundai is adding a new variant to the Veloster lineup in America, and they say this one is for the tuners and enthusiasts. Based on the popular and quite brilliant Veloster Turbo, the new R-Spec version comes with special interior and exterior appointments, as well as a number of performance upgrades.

Available only with the 6-speed manual transmission, the 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec comes as standard with a short-throw B&M Sport Shifter, which in combination with the new sport suspension and steering settings, makes the car feel a lot more responsive and more fun to toss around.

As for the styling, the R-Spec Velosi comes with a sporty red-accented front splitter and side blades, with R-Spec badging on the rear hatch. That Marathon Blue paint job really brings out the new details, but you can also choose Elite White, Ultra Black, and Sprint Gray. Inside, special features include red leatherette bolsters with red/black cloth insert sport seats complement special embroidered-logo R-Spec floor mats.

Traditionally, R-Spec Hyundais don’t get some of the features of the standard modes, what with them being more performance-focused. SO proximity-key entry with push-button start, premium gauge cluster, side-repeater mirrors, driver’s auto-up window, high-gloss interior cues and full-faced heated leather seats are some of the equipment you DON’T get in the Veloster R-Spec.

That is not very good, but then the car has a base price of only $22,110, and it comes with stuff that matter, like Torque Vectoring Control (TVC) and Active Sound Design.
