Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge 600x337 at Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept: NAIAS Preview

Releasing this teaser picture you see above, Infiniti announced the unveiling of a Formula One inspired concept car based on the Q50 premium sports saloon at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. It’s called Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge.

Infiniti’s previous F1-inspired vehicle was the FX Vettel Edition, which was a normal FX tuned to looks meaner and go faster, sold for twice the price of a range-topping version. This one apparently has nothing to do with Vettel. This one is named after the Eau Rouge corner; a world-famous corner at the Formula One track in Spa-Francorchamps.

The reason Infiniti chose this name for their new concept is because Eau Rouge requires extraordinary strength, courage and commitment. It is a corner that separated men from boys. The name is supposed to give the Q50 an air of power and prestige.

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge features aerodynamic styling treatments and design elements which are influenced by the Red Bull Racing F1 car. It will almost certainly get more power than the standard version as well; otherwise the whole thing will seem like a bit of a sham. Infiniti says the Eau Rouge will spawn an extreme performance version of the Q50 in the near future.
