Behold the magnificence of the new generation Mercedes CL. It is not called the CL anymore, of course, because for some reason car makers thought that in 2014 people have suddenly gone dumb and get confused if presented with too many different nameplates and trim levels. So they call it the Mercedes S-Class Coupe.

The new naming policy also makes it easier for Mercedes to build the car, as they can copy more of the S-Class’s features in the Coupe. It is the same thing, after all. They haven’t been lazy though, as the S-Coupe looks substantially different than the sedan version. It does in fact look remarkably similar to the concept version at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, which is a good thing.

Just like the CL, the 2015 Mercedes S-Class Coupe will only be getting V8 and V12 engines, including super-deluxe high-performance AMG models. No hybrid, diesel, or V6 here. It is also a given that the S-Coupe should be chock-full of advanced convenience, connectivity and safety features, like its four-door sibling.

2015 Mercedes S-Class Coupe will be revealed in full glory at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
