Cadillac ELR Convertible 600x260 at Cadillac ELR Convertible Announced by NCE

The guys at the Newport Convertible Engineering, who are experts at beheading pretty much everything, announced a new project based on the 2014 Cadillac ELR range-extended electric vehicle. Here’s an early preview of what it might look like, and we have say it’s not bad.

NCE’s earlier works were utter horror. They were woefully bad. But it seems they are now taking the unusual step of looking at what they are building, and making sure it’s not an eyesore. This Cadillac ELR Convertible they are proposing looks streamlined and very neat. Mind you, the ELR was a good design to begin with.

So it looks good, but there is another problem with NCE’s Cadillac ELR Convertible. It is not exactly a secret that Cadillac is struggling with the sales of the ELR. They are having a hard time convincing people the ELR is worth twice as much as the Chevy Volt, which is basically the same car minus some wood and leather inside the cabin.

NCE expects you to spend $75K on a car that might be killed off due to poor sales, and then hand it over to them, plus a substantial amount of money, so they can chop the roof off. It’s not really plausible.
