Alfa Romeo Disco Volante is, without doubt, one of the hottest cars to grace the stage at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The coachbuilt Italian sports car with a million Euro price tag is the ultimate expression of Italian flair and passion. It is what Leonardo da Vinci would have designed, if he lived in our age.

Yesterday we brought you pictures of the Disco Volante in a lustrous yet dignified green and gold paint job. Based on those pictures, the guys at X-Tomi Design have rendered a Spider version of the car, and we have to say they’ve done a bloody good job of it.

Of course, it would be sacrilege to try something like this with the real Disco Volante, unless Touring Superleggera, the guys who make the thing, try it themselves. The Disco, being based on an Alfa Romeo and crafted by Italian artist, has a sort of holiness about it in the auto world. But the result of this virtual operation looks really good. If anything, it looks even better than the hardtop.

The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spider will probably never see the light of day, seeing as the hardtop didn’t have a particularly easy birth itself. But who knows, maybe some wealthy Alfa enthusiasts see this picture, ring Touring and make them an offer they can’t refuse!
