At this year’s New York Auto Show Subaru will reveal a new version of its Outback SUV. They released a teaser pictures which shows a sleek and elegant car, almost identical to the 2015 Legacy. Those who remember the early Outback and how agricultural they were will be surprised when they see the new model.

The 2015 Subaru Outback, according to the Japanese manufacturer, is going be a lot more car-like than its predecessors in terms of appearance and ride and handling. Subaru maintains, however, that the off-road capabilities of the car will remain intact. In essence, Subaru Outback is a cross between a SUV and an estate car.

The early Outbacks may have been agricultural and a bit crude, but that was part of their charm. They were rough and tumble workhorses in a world of soft and pretty crossovers. With the new fancy looks and its create comforts, 2015 Subaru Outback is in danger of becoming like them, only not as good.

Still, the car should have plenty to offer, what with the firm’s new powerful boxer engines and sophisticated all-wheel-drive fitted as standard. We just hope it has the same sense of invincibility the earlier models had.
