Renault is in the process of creating some hype for a new version of the Megane RenaultSport. They have released a teaser video showing the car being tested and fine-tuned, and they are using the hashtag #Under8, which is a hint at the car’s Nurburgring time.

The only reason this new Renault Megane RS is being prepared is to take back the Nurburging lap record for the font-wheel-drive cars from SEAT. A couple of months ago the Spanish went round the ‘Ring in a Leon Cupra 280 in 7:58. So that’s the target RenaultSport engineers have set for themselves.

There aren’t many details available on the Under8 Megane RS, but the teaser confirms it is using an Akrapovic exhaust system. So one’s things certain, it’ll pretty awesome. The car will almost certainly be powered by a version of the same 265 horsepower in the “normal” Megane RS, tweaked to make more power. Meanwhile some stripping will be done to make the car lighter and more agile.
