Toyota GT86 Convertible & Sedan Reports Resurface

Toyota FT 86 Open Concept 600x357 at Toyota GT86 Convertible & Sedan Reports Resurface

Last time we heard about the Toyota GT86 Convertible and its four-door sedan version – both have been shown as concept cars – it was from a Toyota official who said they are not going to happen; at least not until the sales of the coupe version picks up a bit. Now sources from America are suggesting both cars are back on track.

The source if Toyota’s American subsidiary Scion. They recently announced a major expansion plan which includes the launch of a couple of new models. Digging deeper journalists uncovered that one of these new models is the Toyota GT86 Convertible – or as they call it in America the Scion FR-S Convertible. It is reportedly set for debut later this year with the same technical specs as the coupe version.

Next year we can expect to see a four-door sedan version of the GT86 which will be up to half a meter longer than the coupe version and significantly taller, providing ample space inside the car for four adults. Being bigger and heavier than the coupe, the sedan model is said to be getting a turbocharged version of GT86’s 2.0 liter boxer engine with up to 300 horsepower.

So these are the latest info we have on the convertible and sedan version of the GT86/FR-S. Be content with them for a while until another Toyota official denies them.
