Looks like Audi knew that, against all odds, they were going to be victorious at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. Prior to the race they created this promo video for the Audi R8 LMX, featuring Tom Kristensen who brought home the second car in Audi’s 1-2 victory. The car itself was on display at Le Mans throughout the weekend.

In this video the Le Mans champ shows us some of the virtues of the R8 LMX before taking it for a spin. The car is the ultimate expression of what an R8 can be, but it needs a driver like Kristensen to fully exploit its capabilities.

Audi R8 LMX is powered by a 570 horsepower version of the 5.2 liter V10 engine Audi shares with Lamborghini. It has a state of the art seven-speed S-tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel-drive, and benefits from carbon ceramic brakes and a subtle aero kit. The biggest highlight of this model, however, is the Matrix LED headlights. BMW, of course, beat Audi in launching the first production car with these lights. But still, it is an impressive feature.
