Chevrolet released pictures of the SS Sedan NASCAR pace car, prepared for the John Wayne Walding 400 race at the Brickyard, on Sunday, July 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The red and silver pace car will be driven by actor Chris Pratt.

Chevrolet has always been a major part of NASCAR providing pace car for the races, especially at Indianapolis Motor Speedway where they’ve paced every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race held at the track since 1994.

The 2014 Chevrolet SS pace car fits the bill for a high-performance machine capable of taming the NASCAR monsters, what with a LS3 Chevrolet V-8 engine under the bonnet, delivering 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. The SS features rea-wheel-drive and a six-speed automatic, but sadly no manual option. In addition to pacing, Chevrolet has campaigned the SS as its race car in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition since 2013.

“It’s a dream come true to drive the pace car for the John Wayne Walding 400,” said Pratt, who has also appeared in ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and ‘Moneyball.’  “I am really excited to be part of NASCAR for the day.”
