If you are about to embark on a road trip in your crummy Peugeot, don’t look at these pictures. They will depress the hell out of you. But if you are a rich dude wondering what to do with your exotic cars now that Gumball 3000 is over, they may give you some good ideas.
Backed by AMG, photojournalist Richard Thompson went on an epic road trip to the Pacific Coast Highway with Pagani Hauyra and Mercedes SL65 AMG. On the surface, these two don’t have much in common. On is a million dollar hyper car, the other a high-end convertible sports car.
But Pagani Hauyra and Mercedes SL65 AMG share the same basic engine – a 6.0 liter twin-turbo AMG V12. In the Pagani this engine makes 730 horsepower and is tuned to make elaborate turbo noises. In the SL you get around 630 horsepower and pretty much no noise at all. It’s a luxury cruiser after all.
Together, the Huayra and SL65 have 1,360 horsepower and worth… well, let’s just say the money they cost can feed thousands of starving children in Africa for a whole year!
