The first proper track test of the new and thoroughly improved Ariel Atom 3.5R comes from Evo Magazine who went to Bedford Autodrome to find out what the 350 horsepower sports car is like. Unfortunately, they were greeted at Bedford with heavy rain.

Nevertheless, the guys persevered and managed to put the Ariel Atom 3.5R through the wringer to determine if the extra 40 horsepower, and consequently the extra 40 grand they are asking for it, makes any significant difference. They also managed to capture some spectacular shots of the Atom splashing water all over the place.

Ariel Atom 3.5R comes with the same Civic Type R turbo engine as in the normal models, but here it gets increased boost and a beefier intercooler. The car also benefits from revised suspension with Ohlins dampers, and slight aerodynamic tweaks. Atom 3.5R starts from a whopping £80,000.
