This is a very tragic incident, and not just because a brand-new shiny Audi R8 has burned to smithereens. It is sad because what can you trust if Audi, a byword for quality and reliability, turn out to be as fragile and fire-prone as other sports cars?

In fact, this and the Porsche 911 GT3 fire case make you think is the whole “German quality” thing a big lie? Or is it just bad luck? I mean since the Ferrari 458 fires we haven’t heard of another Italian supercar bursting into flames, but the German cars are blowing up one after another like fireworks!

This Audi R8 caught fire on the side of the road somewhere in Thailand for no obvious reason. You can’t blame the country’s tropical weather for this because as you can see, it’s raining. The rims and the LED taillights are telltale signs of this car’s fairly young age, which makes the whole thing more bitter.
