Spec Ops-Style Promo for Range Rover Sport SVR

JLR yesterday took the wraps off the all-new Range Rover Sport SVR ahead of its official debut at the Pebble Beach 2014, revealing an extremely handsome SUV with a supercharged V8 engine and a track-ready chassis tuned at the Nurburgring. All these awesome facts are now showcased in the superb promo clip you will find after the jump.

Since Range Rover Sport SVR is a creation of JLR’s special operations unit, the whole video has a Spec Ops feel to it. It shows the driver, who looks suspiciously like Kris Meeke, putting on his helmet like a Navy SEAL puts on his NVGs in the movies in dramatic slomo. The engineers meanwhile monitor the mission – lapping the circuit – via a control center in the pit.

Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by the same engine you find in the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, which is a supercharger 5.0 liter V8 punching 550 horsepower and a whole lotta torque. This massive SUV accelerates from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 162mph. Land Rover admits the off-road capabilities have suffered a bit, but that’s Ok because nobody’s going to use them anyway.
