An absolutely awesome 1970 Pontiac Firebird will soon go under the hammer at the Mecum Auctions Chicago. If you are a fan of the original Firebird, don’t even look at it. But if you appreciate beauty, power and just raw badassery you may want to consider bidding on this bad boy.

this restomoded 1970 Pontiac Firebird is equipped with a 480 cubic-inch V8 engine boosted by two 66 mm Bullseye turbochargers. Such big, meaty turbos require a whole host of other high-performance parts, so the Firebird also gets a huge intercooler, Visner intake manifold, custom stainless steel exhaust headers complete with 3-inch Magnaflow mufflers and…

Sadly the performance figures have not been revealed for this bad boy, but a setup like that is not going to result in anything but an eye-opening turn of speed. The driver will get to enjoy the power of that massive engine immensely, as it comes with a Rockland Tranzilla T56 6-speed manual transmission, sport suspension, and brakes powerful enough to stop a train.

As enticing as  the power is, the one thing we admire most about this 1970 Pontiac Firebird is the way it looks. The iconic design of the classic muscle car is accentuated with little details such as new grilles, a splitter, side vents, huge exhaust pipes and modern rims. The whole thing is finished in a deep metallic black – the perfect color for such a menacing car. And of course, there are those magnificent nostrils on the front which look fantastic. I wish all cars had them!
