So while Top Gear TV boys were trying to find a safe way out of Argentina, the Magazine guys back in the UK were busy testing one of the most unusual cars they’ve ever got on their private test track. It’s the Nissan ZEOD RC electric race car and it looks like a surface to surface missile!

Nissan ZEOD RC began its Dunsfold adventure in EV mode, relying only on electricity to lap the track and it popped in a respectable time of 1:13.6. Upon activating the Combined mode which brings to play a petrol engine, the ZEOD then managed to record an astonishingly fast time of 1:05:3.

The petrol engine in Nissan ZEOD RC is probably the most interesting part of the car – even more so than the looks. It’s a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo that produces 400 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, and it weighs just 40kg. It is the only car to have lapped the Le Mans circuit on nothing but electricity.
