Radical Sports Cars is back from a fairly long hibernation, announcing the launch of an updated SR3 and an all-new, high-performance model called Radical SR8 RSX. The V8-powered Le Mans-inspired track machine will go on sale in early 2015.
Radical SR8 RSX is the ultimate expression of a track-day car, mixing extreme lightweight with extreme power. The engine in the RSX is a high-revving 3.0 liter V8 developing 440 horsepower mated to a 7-speed sequential transmission, and it only has to haul around a kerb weight of 860 kg.
Performance figures have not been revealed yet, but it doesn’t take a genius to calculate with that power and that weight, Radical SR8 RSX is gong to be brutally fast. The only drawback here is that because it’s a racing engine, the V8 is going to need a rebuild after 40 hours of racing.
As for the new Radical SR3, the car benefits from a redesigned body and improved durability, and its 1.5 liter Suzuki engine now makes 210bhp. The SR3 is a featherweight, which is why that despite having only 210 horsepower it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a pulverizing 3.1 seconds.
As for the pricing, SR8 RSX can be pre-ordered now for £131,940, and a basic SR3 will set you back £80,349.
