The Middle East – Gulf countries, to be more precise – is the world biggest market for special edition Rolls-Royce models. That is why even when RR wants to pay homage to India with this Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Maharaja edition, it is Dubai that gets the car!
Not that Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Maharaja wouldn’t sell well in India. It is, after all, one of the most powerful economies in the world right now with a growing number of millionaires. But they didn’t see why they should bother launching the car in the sub-continent, when there is a huge number of Indians living in Dubai. By launching the car in the Arab State they killed two birds with one stone.
Racial and geographical issues aside, Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Maharaja is an exquisite product, finished in Carrara White with an Emerald Green coachline adorned with Peacock emblem as a symbol of India. Green is also used for parts of the interior as well as the canvas roof.
When the roof is folded away, you are greeted with the familiar sight of RR’s special teak decking that hugs the cabin and culminates in walnut wood trims on the dashboard. Within this wooden fortress you find cream white upholstery garnished with more green accents and peacock emblems as well as some exquisite marquetry.
