This year’s AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix provided Porsche with an excellent opportunity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of one of their most iconic models, the 911 Turbo. First introduced in 1974, the Turbo is a variant of the Porsche 911 reserved for the connoisseurs. It is not for the faint-hearted; a fact reflected in the people Porsche brought along to mark the Turbo’s birth.

The celebrities gracing Porsche’s booth at Oldtimer Grand Prix 2014 with their presence included Derek Bell, five-times Le Mans overall winner, Walter Röhrl, two-times World Rally Champion, and Magnus Walker, Porsche enthusiast, customizer and collector.

Besides showing various generations of the 911 Turbo and various other bits and bobs relevant to this model, Porsche had also brought along some of their legendary racing machines, including the new 919 Hybrid which looks fantastic next to the 911 GT1. A large collection of privately owned classic Porsche models was also on display outside. More than 70 percent of all Porsche models ever built are still on the roads. It is the job of Porsche Classics department to make sure they stay that way.

And while we’re on the subject of Porsches, you may want to check out some new shots of the Panamera Exclusive Series being introduced to some other members of the family in Old Castle in Stuttgart:
