Unlike the coupe version, the work on the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider – the open-top version – seems to be going smoothly. A fully finished production version of the car has been spied in Spain during a commercial shoot, hinting at an early 2015 launch.

The production Alfa Romeo 4C Spider was caught by photographers completely undisguised and a very interesting giallo (yellow) color no less. Even if we didn’t already know the 4C is an absolute hoot to drive, we’d realize it just looking at these pictures. Fun just oozes out this car!

The reason Alfa has managed to ready the 4C Spider for production relatively quickly is because underneath, the Spider is identical to the coupe model. It gets the same 1,750 cc, 240 horsepower four-cylinder turbo engine, the same paddle shift gearbox, the same cheap interior, and the same carbon tub. On the outside, and apart from the obvious structural work needed to compensate for the lack of a solid roof, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider features revised air intakes, new and less fussy headlights, and different tailpipes.

We can’t wait for the 4C Spidy to be launched and see it in action. The problem is though, as with the coupe, the production of the Spider will be limited and its prices rather high. So despite the size and the engine, this thing is actually a fully-fledged exotica.
