In this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, the man shows us a couple of his most cherished cars, which, given the size of his garage, is really saying something. The cars in question here are a 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 and a Mercedes 600 Grosser, both of them in tip-top condition.

That hasn’t always been the case, though. The 300 SEL 6.3, especially, used to a tired old car and Jay couldn’t really make up his mind if he wants to restore it or not. In the end, he asked you guys, the viewers, what to do. Looking at the end result now, you can easily tell what was the answer:

As interesting as the SEL is, we are more partial to that magnificent Grosser, which in its time – and even now, come to think of it – was the car of choice for the world’s top dictators. This car is pure presence and style; a frightening, unfriendly kind of style. Some of the features in the 600 Grosser are still pretty mind-boggling today.
