McLaren really did shoot itself in one of the legs by launching the 650S because it pretty much killed the 12C. But they had already sold enough 12C not to care much about it, and they told all 12C owners to go an upgrade to 650 if they feel bad. That means the 12C can now be obtained on the cheap, as shown with this rather special McLaren 12C Spider.

Granted, maybe cheap is now the right word to describe a car that costs $205,000 USD. But you have to take into account that this is a McLaren 12C Spider with a retractable roof and the 625 horsepower engine, and it features the super cool Gulf Livery. A similarly specced 650S could easily cost you 350 grand.

What’s more, this McLaren 12C Spider is fully loaded and comes with many optional carbon fiber extras as well as a couple of MSO options. The car features carbon engine cover, carbon turning vanes, carbon door sills, MSO carbon fiber seat backs, and MSO extended carbon fiber shift paddles.

Another great thing about this Spider, and one of the factors that make it seem cheap at 200 grand, is the fact that it’s virtually new with only 4,465 miles on the clock. The car is now on sale at McLaren Newport Beach.
