The world is only just getting acclimated with the 2015 Mustang as Ford goes ahead and launches the 2016 modelyear. New turn signal indicators, a new Performance Package, and a host of visual upgrades including “California Special Package” are among the highlights of the 2016 Ford Mustang.

Under any other circumstances we would make fun of Ford for boasting about turn signal indicators located in hood vents. But in the case of the 2016 Ford Mustang that is kind of a big deal as it harks back to the 1967 Mustang. What is more, the pony car is still way too fresh to warrant more thorough upgrades. The hood-mounted indicators are only available for Mustang GT.

Thanks to a number of new styling packages you can customize you new Mustang in a multitude of ways. There are new stripes, wheels, and trims, and you have the option of painted black roof. Performance-wise, however, all versions remain the same as the 2015 model. But all models do benefit from Ford’s new SYNC3 communications and entertainment system.

The four-cylinder 2016 Ford Mustang comes with a new Pony Package which consists of 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, tri-bar pony logo on the grille, side stripe and chrome window surround. Meanwhile the GT gets the Black Accent Package for Fastback and convertible models, including 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels, black decklid spoiler, dark taillamp trim, and 5.0 and pony logos in black.

Mustang GT Premium buyers will also have the option of the California Special Package, the main features of which include 19-inch ebony wheels, ebony leather/Miko suede seat inserts with red contrast stitching and embossed logo, unique door inserts and carpets, aluminum dashboard finish, hood and side stripes, front splitter, strut tower brace, dark taillights, and black mirror caps and vents.
